Bio

I've been a nurse for 37 years; 20+ of those were spent working in my local public school system. I served 15 years working full-time in a high school and coordinating health services for the district. "Never a dull moment" is my motto! I was Indiana's School Nurse of the Year in 2009, and served four years as president-elect and president for IASN after that. I was an IASN  board member and conference planner for about 15 years. In summer of 2019, I accepted a new position as a college nurse, running a health center at a small private college. This allowed me to return to school myself to finally become a nurse practitioner in my 50s.
I am passionate about public health, public education, and social justice issues. My fields of interest include sexuality education, LGBTQ+ youth, mental health, health equity, immunization, and gun violence prevention. It was my honor to serve on the NASN board from 2017-2023, representing Indiana.
